Lenovo IdeaPad Y550P Notebook With Intel Core i7 Processor

Lenovo today introduced the IdeaPad Y550P notebook, which is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor with the Turbo Boost technology. The 15.6-inch notebook provides a 1366×768 HD LCD display with up to 8GB of RAM, and a powerful nVidia GeForce 240M graphics. The Lenovo IdeaPad Y550P is ideal for gamers who need a powerful gaming laptop. Additional features include a Blu-ray drive, Windows 7 Home Premium, and a SlideNav that is designed to help users navigate programs, documents and shortcuts. Measuring 15.2-inch x 10.0-inch x 1.5-inch, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y550P will be available in mid-November for around $1399. [LaptopMag via Laptop Notebook News]


We’re still struggling to figure out why every PC maker in the universe has decided to debut at least one or two new Windows 7 machines today, but while we spin our wheels in frustration, we’ll point you in the direction of LG’s latest. Viewsonic’s already announced a few new laptops in advance of that little Windows 7 launch, but it looks like it’s saved its biggest guns for the last minute, with it now introducing a whole range of new models in Taipei. The stand-out of the lot is the company’s new ViewBook Pro (pictured above), which packs a 13.3-inch display, low-power Core 2 Duo processor, and a fairly unique interchangeable optical drive / second battery into a slim aluminum enclosure. In anticipation of the Thursday’s launch, the crazy kids at Gigabyte Japan have refreshed two of their netbook lineup to include Windows 7 Starter. Unfortunately for the T1028X tablet we’ve been tracking for a while now, this flavor of the OS doesn’t support multitouch. We’ve already seen plenty of Windows 7 laptops and desktops up for order, but it looks like we’re now finally starting to see how things will shake out on netbooks as well. After much confusion in the early days of Windows 7, it appears that Windows 7 Starter edition will indeed be the standard issue offering on the majority of netbooks, and it looks like it’ll also demand a slight premium over otherwise comparable XP-based systems. NEC laptop: LaVie M

On top of the LaVie L that we mentioned today, NEC has presented yet another unit that goes into the notebook category, it is the LaVie M.

The technical specifications of the LaVie M aren’t too powerful, but there is one detail that is above the average – the battery life that can last up to 8 hours and a half – thanks to its “enhanced battery system”. In the inside of the LaVie M you can find an Intel Celeron SU2300 processor running at 1.2 GHz, a hard-drive of 320GB, and 4GB of RAM.

The 13-inch LaVie M will become available in 3 different colors, including red, white, and black.


Toshiba’s just announced a couple new lappies — and a whole host of refreshes — in anticipation of the Windows 7 launch later this month. The big news here is definitely the touchscreen models: The Satellite U505 (due out November 1) is a 13.3-inch, 5 lb device with an MSRP of $1,049.99, while the Satellite M505 (street date October 22) has 14.4-inches of real estate and an MSRP of $949.99.
